Fortunes of War
Saturday, 10th April
Fortunes of War is an event that applies a narrative layer over the top of a standard tournament.
- Players are divided into one of two factions depending on the god/tribe they play.
- Games are played 1v1; however, players are only draw against players in their opposing faction.
- The winner of each game is determined using the standard Judgement rules. However, when submitting battle results, players will include narrative elements that contribute to their faction’s overall score.
Format
- 5v5 Veto
- 3 rounds
- Gods & Tribes
- Highlander (Warbands can only include heroes that are champions of the chosen god/tribe)
Factions
There are two main factions battling out, the Order of Light and Ministry of Darkness and a 3rd faction, Keepers of Time who are neutral in the struggle for control of the Shadow Plane. Keepers of Time gods/tribes are aligned to either the Light or Darkness factions to even out numbers between the factions for the tournament.
Order of Light

- Ista
- Grul
- Elves
- Minotaurs
- Dwarfs
- Humans
Ministry of Darkness

- Krognar
- Bruelin
- Orcs
- Undead
- Demons
- Tomas
Keepers of Time

Keepers of Time are not a standalone faction. Players aligned to this faction will be assigned to either the Ministry of Darkness of the Order of Light factions to ensure we have even numbers.
Narrative Elements
Campaign Map
A campaign map will be used to represent the territories of the Shadow Plane the faction of Light and Darkness are fighting over. Effigy territories will be gained and lost as the results come in.
Campaign Results & Judgement: Eternal Champions
We will be using the results of Fortunate of War to determine the final rules for new releases before and after Adepticon 2027.
Two new undead heroes will be released prior to Adepticon. While they will be automatically assigned to the undead tribe, the gods they align to will be determined by the results of Fortunes of War. We are also planning the introduction of a 7th god. The nature of the new god and the heroes aligned to it will once again be determined by the results of Fortunes of War.
These are just teasers today. Full details will be published prior to the event.
Campaign Scoring
In addition to the standard battle statistics of Souls & Hero Levels, each player will include the following data as part of their result submission:
- number of hero kills.
- number of successful Souls harvested.
- number of monster kills.
- number of shrines controlled.
Faction are awarded Fotunes of War points after each game as follows:
- Battle Win: 5 points
- Hero Kills: 1 point per kill
- Souls Harvest: 1 point per successful Soul Harvst
- Monster Kills: 1 point per kill
- Shrines Controlled: 1 point per controlled shrine
GT Final 4 and Fortunes of War
The players who make the cut to the final 4 of the Grand Tournament are the true champions of the Factions their gods/tribes are part of. We want them to be part of Fortunes of War, so results from thier games will contribute to their respective factions, the same as players participating directly in the tournament.
Awards
The following awards will be given out at the conclusion of the tournament.
- Fortunes of War Victor - each player of the winning faction.
- Fortunes of War Champion - the player who amassed the most Fortunes of War points.
- Bounty Hunter - the player that killed the most heroes.
- Soul Master - the player that harvest the most Souls (via the skill check).
- Monster Slayer - the player that killed the most monsters.
- Shrine Collector - the player that controlled the most shrines.
