Can Rakkir use his Level 2 Escape Combat Manoeuvre as part of an attack that kills a model, in which Rakkir would harvest a soul and become Level 2?
No. Per the Core Rulebook section on Gaining Levels, a model unlocks their levelled abilities immediately after their current action ends. Since Rakkir is still in the middle of an action when the damage is resolved but before combat manoeuvres are chosen, he does not have access to Escape at that point in the attack process.
Can Rakkir use escape if there are already 3 friendly Shadow Orbs on the battle field?
If Rakkir is unable to place a shadow orb because there are 3 friendly Shadow Orbs on the board already, he can only use Escape if he is adjacent to a friendly Shadow Orb at that time.
